Wow, this whole book was a completely different story from Caraval. I loved the contrast in the sister's characters as well as the plot and their love interests. the ending was just, ahhhh whyyyyyy. There was a drastic difference between Tella and Scarlette that took a while to get used to but it helped keep the plot. I liked it a lot.
I went into this knowing I do not really care for little Miss Donatella. I liked the first book more and always will. This book took on an entirely new set of point of views but the first book’s characters were all still present. I liked the twists and turns the author chose for this book. The magic elements keep on building upon each other and I appreciate that too.
Do we love Legend or do we love Legend? Yeah, me too.

4.5 ⭐️ as much as i loved caraval, i honestly think that this book was so much better. i won’t lie i was skeptical going into this because i wasn’t sure how i felt about tella but i also just wanted to read more about scarlett and julian but i ate this up. tella is a queen!! i loved her so much. she deserves the world. the little love triangle we had going on. giddy asf. i loved jacks. i did. he was so charming and i cannot wait to read about him in once upon a broken heart. BUT. dante. as much as i hate him rn i loved him throughout the book. there was just something about him. he got me good. dare i say he was even more charming than jacks… i think despite the circumstances, he truly opened tella up and broke her out of her shell and that will definitely show in the third book. i refuse to believe that any of what their relationship was was fake. sorry. it was real to me. this book had such great building all around. the characters, the story, the plot. ms stephanie garber knows how to write a book. the plot was too good!!! plot twists left and right it was genuinely hard to put this book down. my only complaint is that we were seeing more of scarlett and julian through tellas pov which i hated. why not just write them a second book? or an epilogue novel/novella or something. i just hate that their story seemed so incomplete at the end of caraval only for their relationship to then be on the rocks 99% of the time in this book as well. but other than that i loved this book so much. the ending has me so excited for finale and i cannot wait to see what’s in store!!

I’m pretty stubborn, so I picked this back up. I was in a major reading slump during this book, but near the end, it really pulled on my heartstrings. It was definitely a rollercoaster — the pacing went from slow to fast, then back to slow again, which made me lose interest pretty heavily at times. The writing was beautiful, and I definitely need to work on my patience. Overall, the book would’ve hit differently if I had just stuck with it consistently and didn’t spoil it for myself. My fault.
