While I read this book, I couldn't help but feel like I was sitting Ms. Threadegood with Evelyn. I grew close to all characters and smiled, cried, and laughed as Mrs. Threadegood recalls their experiences at the small town of Whistle Stop, Alabama. Not only that, but Flagg also allows readers watch as Evelyn fights through her own struggles with depression, weight, and overall confusion. Truly a wonderful novel.

Absolutely love how Fannie Flagg writes her characters. Loved the movie so figured I would read the book and I adored it just as much. If you wanted more of Idgie and Ruth's dynamic in the movie then the book is definitely for you

Of course the book is better than the movie! It was interesting how the flashbacks were not told in chronological order but by the conversation Ninny & Evelyn were having during their visits.
