I was about to DNF this at about 20% and I would have really missed out. This is why I didn't give it 5, but 4.75.
Later on I hadn't realised how invested I was and how much I loved Ninny and the last chapters of this book even made me cry.

It was a fun read l, really sweet, funny and moving in parts but I was a little confused by the gratuitous MLM references… why?!

It just doesn’t get more iconic than feeding a klansman to another klansman 💀💀💀 Also, southern femme Sunday school teacher who wouldn’t hurt a fly and southern butch lesbian who will fight you, my beloveds!!! Ruth mailing Idgie a Bible passage from Ruth and nothing else, and Idgie realizing she needed to bring her home… I will simply never recover. The romance.

That being said, parts of this book did not age well. Also, I wasn’t really interested in the present timeline and some of the tertiary characters, and would have loved more about Idgie and Ruth.
