Better than the movie, but not sure if I’d have been able to follow it all if I didn’t have the movie for some background. Lots of skipping around.

Such a lovely, heartwarming, funny book. I’ve been wanting to read this for so many years as the film has been my favorite for so long. It goes without saying the book is, of course, so much better. And quite a bit different! Ruth and Idgie are unmistakably together and easily one of the most romantic couples I’ve ever read about, despite not having much dialogue or scenes together. This is a book that gives you nostalgia for a time in history you weren’t even alive during. I was Evelyn Couch hanging on to every word of Ms. Threadgood’s stories as if she was my own grandmother.

great book, better than the movie even!

This book was a delight to read. The characters seem to come alive in the stories Ninny tells, Dot Weems' Weems Weekly bulletin, and Fannie Flagg's accessible prose. Long a fan of film adaptation, I was happy the book closely resembled the movie.

Fried Green Tomatoes is a comfort read for me. The movie is fantastic and the book is super fantastic.

I had never listened to it before and needed a brain cleanse so decided to give it a go.

I cannot recommend this audio book enough!!!!  The narrator was pure perfection.  She managed to voice each character so uniquely that it was easy to hear who she was.

This is a book told in multiple time lines. Past to present to far past to present to past. Told in multiple POV. It is two individual tales told seamlessly as one.

This book would absolutely come with trigger warnings if it was published today.  It is a harsh reality of life told in a funny, emotional, visual, beautiful way.

I think everyone should read and listen to it!!!!

Loved this book.  It is funny and light-hearted but an excellent story that kept my interest to the very end

I loved the movie so I checked out the book. I didn't think it was that good, I pushed myself through it.

9/10

An amazing read, a little dated, and a bit all over the place, but that’s the Southern Charm.

Just know that this is a must read for everyone and I hope everyone was able to take a bit out of this story.

What a beautiful novel. Like though unlike the movie, so supported by its side characters and the entire cafe of Whistlestop, not just Idgie and Ruth. Also gayer than I thought it would be (compliment) having only seen the movie once a while ago.
