Honestly, not as good as the movie. However, it is worth the purchase alone just for the recipes included in the back. If you have always wanted to be able to make your Grandmother's biscuits, fried chicken, or fried green tomatoes, buy this book.

This movie is my go to when I’m sad. I have loved it since I was very little. I’m glad I watched the movie first. I wouldn’t have loved it nearly as much if I had read the book first.

The book admits the relationship of idgie and Ruth. Which I absolutely adore. It streams from one character to another and one time to another seamlessly. Easy to read. Would love to see a second part of the movie that tells the stories from big George, sipsey, and artis’ point of view. 😍

Love the recipes in the back. Bonus!

Emily reminded me of this one. It was a favorite of mine for about two years and I read it over and over. I love these little slice of life stories, especially ones set in the past. A nice, easy, casual read for when you want something that isn't too deep to digest.

Heartwarming characters and story. I enjoyed how the book went back and forth between different time periods.
