Warrior girl unearthed takes place 10 years after Firekeeper's Daughter (which I absolutely loved). Unfortunately this book had too many things going on and too many character  doing things. at one point I lost interest in it, which is sad because it tries to tackle important topics and issues such as NAGPRA and missing and murdered indigenous women. Overall a good book and recommended but I gave Firekeeper's Daughter 5 stars so my expectation was maybe a little too high

I absolutely loved the first book, Firekeeper’s Daughter. It took me a while to start this one out of fear of being disappointed. I was not disappointed! Warrior Girl Unearthed touches complicated, relevant themes and does so from multiple perspectives. It analyzes whether the ends justify the means, the importance of being true to yourself and doing things in a good way, and justice. I felt there were a couple loose threads as the novel wrapped up, but overall the story kept me as hooked as Firekeeper’s Daughter did. Perry is a very lovable character, the romance elements were cute and did not take over the whole plot, and it was great to see some closure for some of the events in the previous book.

Part of why I keep returning to YA is that I think the genre is able to touch on the broadly relevant topics with a refreshing twist or eye, and this is something I find Angie Boulley Is exceptional at. I adore the heist elements of this (though my main criticism is that it takes far too long to reach the action of said heist) and the main character is the kind of YA protagonist I wish I saw more of - determined and fierce, but still capable of making mistakes and learning from them.

I want to say I liked Firekeeper’s Daughter better and maybe I did but this book was absolutely amazing! I loved it from beginning to end no matter how frustrating some parts got
