Honestly, hard to rate. This felt like the darkest romance in this world and that’s saying something. I honestly was shocked that it went places it went. I was completely hooked and screamed quite a bit there at the end. But upon reflection, the relationship just wasn’t as easy to buy into as her others and I felt like some of Maddox’s actions seemed really inauthentic. I’ll read part 2 soon, but honestly wish part 2 didn’t exist.

I was really nervous to read this book because of the plot but my curiosity won the battle and I just ended reading it all at once (as I did with all Cora's books). I didn't have big expectations and here it goes my review (a VERY long review):
Firstly, for me, the best part of the book is Marcella's personality. I love that she isn't just a stereotyped bad girl or just a spoiled and futile princess; she has dreams, ambitions and is very smart and strong and the depth of her character is very crucial. In contrast, I felt like Maddox didn't had the same construction and his character was much more superficial, specially because his only and one thought was Luca.
Honestly, I really hate the kidnapping plot in general and in this book it was no different. It was hard to read the scenes of Marcella being humiliated and hurt by the MC and I was so scared for what else they would do. My heart was pounding in the part where Earl cut her ear. The "salvation" (with much necessary quotation marks) was the fact that Maddox never wanted to hurt Marcella in any way, but YET she got hurt both physically and mentally and he waited forever to realise that his MC was rotten to the core and Marcella was in danger with them.
Another thing that bothered me was the way their relationship was developed. I felt like the lines between "He/she is the enemy, I'm gonna seduce her for advantage" and "I love you and would die for you" were very abrupt and there were lots of terrible moments (like the way she lost part of the ear one night and was having sex with Maddox like nothing was wrong in the next morning). I really hope this changes in the next book.
Last but not least, I need to talk about the Vitiellos. Even with not many scenes, we can see how deeply they care about each other and the faith Marcella had in her father was amazing. I was glad to see Luca being such a good father and actually letting Marcella gets involved with the Famiglia business (another thing I want to be more explored). And let's talk about the way Amo was ready to give his position of next capo to his sister even if he was prepared for it his whole life (their relation is everything). I'm ready to see the Vitiello siblings prosper and rule New York fully (and if course, seeing Amo all grown up made me more anxious for his and Greta's book).
In general, it was a okay reading with ups and downs and nothing more. Let's wait for part II.

Phenomenal Chemistry
Mad Dog and his Snow White have phenomenal chemistry. Although this is a kidnapping story like Twisted Pride by the same author, it isn’t another version of Twisted Pride. It’s very different and a little darker.
Luca is the heroine’s father and his point of view is heart wrenching.
I debated whether to get this book on its release date or wait until part two becomes available. Although it ends on a cliffhanger, it didn’t take away my enjoyment of reading the book. I’m really looking forward to Dec. for part two. I liked catching up on some of the other characters from previous books..

By Sin I Rise: Part One is the first book in the Sins of the Fathers Series and let me tell you I am off to a good start! This is the first time that I have read one of Cora Reilly’s books and I am so glad I did! I felt like I was dragged into this book and kept on the edge of my seat for the next thing that was going to happen.
This is Maddox “Mad Dog” White and Marcella Vitiello’s story and the beginning of the book was horrific for Maddox. He was only 5 years old when he saw his father, was the President of the MC, and the rest of the MC members butchered in front of him while he was hiding and told not to come out of hiding for anything.
It’s the MC vs the Mafia.
Fast forward to the current day, Maddox is in the Tartarus MC and his uncle who raised him is now the President. Marcella’s father is the Capo of the New York Mafia. He is the one that butchered Maddox’s father. Now the members of Tartarus are out for revenge and kidnap Marcella. Maddox, who has every right to want revenge, tries to save Marcella from the bad things that will happen.
This book has a lot of possible triggers. There is VIOLENCE, lots of cringe worthy violence!! So, proceed with caution. It is definitely a dark romance! And, you won’t get your HEA yet. It doesn’t end on a huge cliffhanger but it does end with the story to be continued! I can’t wait to read Part Two!

OH MY SOUL! The second generation stories begin with a bang-an epic and swoony love story stained with darkness and revenge. I have long awaited the second generation stories of my favorite mafiosos. By Sin I Rise is such an enticing beginning to the the much anticipated Sins of the Father Series. Dark, gritty, and consuming and the perfect marriage of mafia danger and mc steel - we learn quickly that not only will our next generation have to answer for the sins of their parents, but that they will also break the mafia mold and challenge everything we've come to expect from one of my favorite mafia writers. This is a whole new world of mafia intrigue, and a new type of hero and heroine. And I AM HERE FOR IT.

Devilishly delicious :) Maddox and Marci...just damn! If you want a man set on revenge and a princess in her gilded cage then this is for you! They will make you cheer for them and want to help murder anyone in their way to happiness, I know I do :)
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm
WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK!!!?
You can’t leave me hanging like this. I need my fix. I am being teased and played with. I really want to say I don’t like it but we all know I enjoy it so much.
Marcella is a mafia princess. Kept in her golden cage. You can look but you can’t touch. This life is all she knows but her dream is to find a little bit more. She knows the side they try to hide. When the Darkside tries to touch her she puts on a face she was born with. However, he is the only one who can see her falter and the only one who can bring her out the other side.
Maddox is out for revenge. His childhood memories have always tortured him. It is time for payback. With his club they will finally get what they’ve always wanted. This plan has one minor glitch though. Marcella! He agrees to use her to seek out his revenge but his club president has a more extravagant plan. The other hiccup? His building love for the princess as well as her big scary dangerous father.
This club that he has destroyed single handedly before has underestimated him. He is the Capo of New York and one of the scariest and biggest men. Luca will stop at nothing to get his little girl back. Though even when he is asked to make a trade with his life he can’t rid his instincts to surrender. It’s not in his genes. One thing is for certain. He will rescue his daughter and demolish the rebuilt MC that dare cross him. At this point there is no doubt. Pure facts.
This book was ridiculously good. I couldn’t put it down. I knew it would happen though. Cora’s mafia is always insanely good. To say I’m pumped and on the edge of my seat for book two would be an understatement. Definitely worth reading but be warned. You will be hooked
Fabulous story ! I enjoyed listening to this audiobook the characters were great . Marcella the Italian princess she is smart as a whip and gorgeous any man could want her except the sap who’s engaged to her. Everyone is afraid of her dad except for her and her family . Then there are those who don’t care for the vitiello , someone like Maddox part of a motorcycle gang . These two are polar opposites but when Maddox takes Marcy well that is where the action begins. These two are explosive together and while they typically in the beginning hated each other, well sometimes things change . I really enjoyed their back and forth and the action that occurs later on with her family and his. This is a fabulous book you won’t want to miss out on. The narrators did such a wonderful job bringing all the characters to life . All in all this was amazing and I can’t wait to get the second part.
