63 pages in and I don’t have a scooby what is going on. There’s so many characters and side plots, I can’t keep up

A very smartly written, fast paced crime thriller...and when I see the words "crime" or "police procedural," I admittedly recoil a little. But this was so good. So well done with a fully realized and plausible plot.

It has that cold, snowy creepiness that I absolutely love in a thriller. I see a sequel...though I'm unsure if I would want to actually read it. I could see these characters popping up again though, they were incredibly strong, fleshed out people that you do genuinely care for.

But, I love an ominous, more open ending. Definitely one of my favorites of the year.

I have mixed feelings about this book. Good descriptive details and some appropriately brutal scenes. Overall, the writing is very good. However, I found it a bit stiff and technical, almost academic—a bit dry for my tastes.

Very plot driven. The character development was thin, so I had a hard time engaging with any of the characters. Also, there were also a lot of characters and moving parts, which led to a fair amount of initial confusion.

A long book, but a good conclusion if you manage to stick with it.
