Enjoyed the mystery and it's solution immensely but the dry, purely puzzle-focused storytelling is not exactly to my taste. As a result of it the whydunnit felt like an afterthought. The entire book I kept wondering what could it be and it was the first, most boring thing I thought of.
Still, the puzzle at the heart of it is brilliant: fair, clever and not too outlandish. I won't forget this one anytime soon.

I really enjoyed this one, from the pacing to the atmosphere to the characters. I was worried that this was going to hew too closely to the And Then There Were None formula, but was delighted that it simultaneously did and did not. It's great when in hindsight you can see the clues you noticed and the ones you did not. The great shame was finding out that this book is part of a series with ten others...only one of which has been translated, though a second one is coming out in May.

The audiobook narrator sounded like a robot. It was very off-putting.

I’m a sucker for a good mystery, and the middle portion of this book definitely qualifies as that, but the beginning and end were less than satisfactory. I was so bored at the beginning that it took me a week to get through the first hundred pages (that, and the fact that I was doing all of my college essays). But as soon as I got 100 pages in (and submitted all 23 applications lol) it got super engaging and I finished the rest of the book in an hour.
Ending was kind of disappointing, I was surprised but not really wow-ed.
