Needed more character development but I was not able to guess who the murderer was

Kept me on my toes the whole time. I kept trying to guess the storylines for each character. My main issue is that it was hard for me to keep all the Japanese names straight and I feel that it was hard to love the characters because they weren’t developed well. I didn’t feel much when they died. It just felt like another piece of the puzzle falling apart. It was super interesting and a good, puzzling read though! The ending was unexpected. I don’t think I would reread it now that I know though, especially because each murder was stated in details of how it was done at the end.

It’s too pastiche to the point where it is derivative of And Then There Were None. The characters are not particularly interesting and not well developed. I also found it far too meta (i.e. all the characters are hyper aware of murder mystery tropes and try to use that awareness as a logics tool in solving the mystery).

took me longer cause i was lazy. pretty good and moves fairly fast. a little hard to keep up with in terms of who’s who, what’s happened, what’s happening, what the motive was, etc. but tbh all mystery are like that. i like the seclusion and the rising hysteria but also felt like everyone was fairly level headed. don’t know if i would read again necessarily but i did enjoy it !
