An interesting overview of places to cycle in Britain but spoilt a little for me by the slightly odd tone of the book. It's written as if for beginner cyclists with detailed descriptions of what a bike is, how to change a tyre etc and contains several easy cycle routes in various parts of the country. However it constantly refers back to Harold Briarcliffe's 1940s cycling guides which seem to have been for much more experienced cyclists and (from the quotes) were written by a man who appears to have disliked most of the places he visited. There's also slightly bizarre historical interludes and sections drawing on a cycle tour around the UK made by Clare Balding. So it's not quite clear what the point of the book is.
