Jodi Ellen Malpas has done it again. She's made me fall in love! I did not want to put this book down!! I knew as soon as I started reading it that I was going to love it.

Jake and Camille are lovable characters. They both have their own personality and they're both strong-willed people. I just adore Camille. She works hard for herself even though she has a dad who would give her the world if she asked for it.

Unless that world consisted of Jake. Even though he hired Jake to protect Camille from possible threats, he didn't want her near him. He definitely didn't want them to end up together.

The only thing that was aggravating was it took so long to get the action parts! But that's completely okay. The super adorable parts make up for it in the end :)

I don't think there will ever be a book by Jodi that I won't like!!

You know, I was really interested in this book when it came out. Every once in a while it's fun to read a fluffy, damsel-in-distress type of book with the big, attractive hero stepping in to save the day. I mean seriously. Look at that COVER! THAT is what I wanted.

This book did not deliver. Throughout the first chapter, all we established was how broken the supposed hero was. Okay, I get it, you're damaged, let's get to the bodyguarding and excitement! NOPE. We basically get 100 pages of both of them sighing over how hot the other one is, or on his end, how they can't be together she's just a job blah blah blah I don't care! Either make a move or move on!! Enough angsting!

Oh and speaking of the job. How are you supposed to protect someone when half the time you're staring longingly and imaging being with them and the other half you're berating yourself because she's just a job?

Anyway, basically, I gave up because he's a possessive alpha who is kind of just a terrible person and she just annoyed me, though her character had some potential. But I just couldn't stick with it. I wanted more mystery, more protecting, more everything. This book did not deliver what that cover promised.

This book was eh. Sometimes I felt like I was just slogging through it. I wanted to love the book, I mean who doesn’t love the thought of a slow burn bodyguard protecting a princess. However, the plot just sped by. We are talking days of knowing each other and they’ve already admitted they’re in love. In addition, I felt like a lot of things were added just for *spicy drama* and it just wasn’t needed. Like why did Jake suddenly have a daughter the last three chapters? Just okay then...

2 stars. Boring. Like, just thinking about having to review this makes me yawn. I’m yawning right now. So dull.

Granted, the characters were much better than the weirdos from This Man. Jake didn’t give me ‘bitch I’ll kill you’ vibes like Jessie Ward and Cami had a backbone unlike whatsherface. It still was so damn dry. There was nothing about the story that kept me invested and I found myself just not caring in the end. I’ve come to the conclusion that this author is not for me. Oh, well.

That’s all I got.

+ 2 POV's, which I love. Gives the story more depth
+ the sexy-ness in this book is deliciously written
+ fast paced read because of the writing. Love Jodi's writing
+ loved the humor I encountered, especially in the first part of the book were Cami tries to be a pain in Jake's ass haha

- the Story wasn't very original but I was expecting this already before starting reading this book so it isn't like I'm disappointed or anything, but that's the reason for giving this book 3.5 stars instead of a higher rating. It was a very! enjoyable! read to say the least, but not mind-blowing like her previous trilogies for example.

A more thorough review will follow on my blog soon

I thought this book had potential to bee good, but instead stuck to insta-love and every imaginable romance cliche. (3 days for Jake to decide to risk his livelihood and professionalism just to get with Camille; 4 days for her to decide she loved him). There was seriously WAY too much thrown in here and all within a week's span. Vapid party girl who really isn't like the papers depict, but has depth? Check. Mysterious alpha male with a shrouded past? Check. Has multiple abodes what are uniques and not at all what was expected? Check. Abusive ex? Check. Manipulating, conniving family member? Check. Male and women MC so hot that they literally stop people from being able to perform menial tasks? Check. Someone out to get female (but not all is what it seems)? Check.
Spoiler Male MC has dead wife? Check. Dead wife cheated? Check. Child? Check. Reunites with said child and it's OTT with cuteness? Check.
<--- very spoilery.

If this would have taken place over a longer period of time (really, how can Camille be mad that Jake doesn't spill his inner demons after 3 days?!), and if the plot would have been slimmed down to just the love story and the threat, I would have found this way more enjoyable.
