I’ve followed this series from the very first release date but due to one thing or another fell behind on new releases. I love this series as it is a local author and I know the areas well.

All the way through I kept thinking this is my absolute favourite book of the series. And then I got to the final few pages....... And then the author broke my heart!

I love these characters so much, and I love a good mystery that keeps me guessing. The end was shocking and so sad though.

Ms Marsons has gone and done it again. She has not only produced a story which is so believable it drew me in immediately, she had me in tears near the end.

Once again Kim Stone finds herself embroiled in a mystery full of twists and turns. The story had me wanting to continue reading to find out exactly what was going on. This author is one of my all time favourites and if she continues to bring out work such as this then I foresee she will remain a favourite for a long time to come.

Huge thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for providing a copy.

Oh my god, this one broke me. I knew something bad was going to happen since the prologue but damn. I loved that character so much for all his flaws. It truly broke me.

Dying Truth
4.5 Stars

The apparent suicide of a young girl at a prestigious boarding school leads DI Kim Stone and her team to question the nature of evil and whether a child could be a malicious killer. As the bodies pile up, Kim realizes that the long-buried secrets of the past can have devastating effects on the present.

This is one of the best British crime series currently on the market. Kim is a fantastic heroine - intelligent, strong-willed and somewhat anti-social, but it is obvious that she truly cares about people and is determined to get justice for the victims. The rest of her team complement her so well.

The case is a compelling one that pushes boundaries and might make some readers uncomfortable, especially with regard to the notion that some children are simply born evil. That said, the ultimate explanation is satisfying albeit rather convoluted. There is also a devastating twist at the end that will lead to significant developments in future installments.

On a final note, the Angela Marsons is an excellent writer. However, she is in dire need of a professional editor as there are several grammar and plotting errors that mar an otherwise excellent book.
