Light-hearted entertainment. Persephone really acts like a 16/17 years old girl most of the time. I liked Hades though even if the psychological part was a bit ... weird. I guess you pick up new interests as immortal.

This is a modern day spin on Greek mythology, which is something of late that I have enjoyed. Since reading Starcrossed by: Josephine Angelini, I craved more. This author did not let me down. Strong facts and characters make this book worth reading. Another surprise is that the main character doesn't even realize her fate or powers. I glad things got started quickly with no back story. Most of the time this kills me but I found in this case I was ready for a jump start and was not let down.

I think this is one of the best Mythology books I have gotten my hands on yet!

Having Hades seemingly good in this is another thing that hasn't really been done before. And you will not believe the story with these two! I think this is one of the best Mythology books I have gotten my hands on yet!

Good fast read
As a mythology lover, this book was right up my alley. I loved the way I got to see Persephone grow. I'm excited to read the next books in the series and see what happens to all of them.

It would have been a more enjoyable read if I wasn't constantly cringing at the awkward age difference. Persophone is 16 and it really just seems very off putting in this century.

There's so much more you could do with this concept (Hades/Persephone in the modern day), if executed in the hands of a better writer. This story needed another 50 or so pages to simmer; the plot blew through so quickly and the characters changed on a dime. Persephone especially - she went from run-of-the-mill teen (it was seriously hard to get through the first chapter) to a bonafide badass in the course of a few months. I appreciate the effort to make her more than a wallflower, but we get hardly any inner turmoil or reasons behind her decisions - she just does them, sometimes out of the blue. It was hard to connect with her.
It's no secret I'm a huge Persephone/Hades fan, so I guess my standards are high. And I did like Hades here for the most part. Dude's smart enough to realize that attraction alone isn't a good enough reason to take advantage of a girl thousands of years younger than you. The Underworld that Bevis created here also had some really intriguing elements, but again, I wanted more.
Part of me still wants to read the sequel to see what happens next. Maybe after I read the other Persephone stuff on my TBR.

Quick and engaging read that I finished in 1 day. I started this after reading a series that totally strung me out with angst, and it was a welcome relief. I agree with others that there's definitely more room for relationship development, but there's several more books in store and I'm hoping this is one where marriage is just the beginning of a more complex and organic dynamic between Persephone and Hades. Onto book 2...!

Overall, I liked it, but I felt like we got to the romance part of it very fast. In a blink it had gotten more serious and I didn't see that coming nor I saw foundations for it to be built.
I'm always a slut for Hades/Persephone content, so I really enjoyed this!
This was the first ACTUAL Hades and Persephone inspired book I had ever read and my God it was my first read of the year... IN MAY!
