Middle of the Night by Riley Sager

Riley Sager has done it again – taken me totally by surprise! The families that live on Hemlock Circle are still haunted by the disappearance 30 years earlier of ten-year-old Billy. But none as much as his best friend Ethan who was asleep in a tent in the backyard with Billy when he mysteriously went missing. You will find yourself in the middle of a bone chilling ghost story as you dismiss one red herring after the other and finally learn the sad and horrible truth about what happened that night.

I almost abandoned this one part way through, but made myself continue. Shocked at how it all came together

I enjoyed this more than I expected to! I don't always love a thriller, but this was really good! There was enough suspense to keep me engaged and wanting to know more. I found the past timeline just as interesting as the present one and I enjoyed to POV switch throughout the past storyline. Ethan did annoy me a bit about 75% through, but it was forgiven when part of his backstory was revealed. I also only guessed one part of the ending, so I was thoroughly surprised by the big twist. Overall a fun time and makes me want to check out more thrillers.
