This was great! I couldn’t tear myself away from this book—the clues were so well placed and I had a lot of empathy for the main character. It raises some really interesting questions about how to define authorship, and resolves them in a way that is delightfully unexpected, plot-driven, and still open for discussion. The revelation after part three made me gasp. What a plot!!!
My only qualm is that after the reveal, the answer becomes very very clear to the audience. Given what Jacob knew about the plot and Rose so far, it should have become very obvious to him too. It doesn’t make sense that with all his months of suspicion and deductive reasoning that he’d never suspect Anna, whose gray hair he already noted in their first encounter! He should know from writing the book & finding that it’s a true story that he’d be looking for a woman who is passing herself off as 15 years younger, so some parts of his later investigation don’t make a ton of sense.

I enjoyed this book for the most part. Nothing crazy but it went pretty quick. I was a bit bored towards the end but then things took a turn at the very end and hooked me again.
The book was good but very slow to start. The real good content was slammed at the end of the book. I liked the ending and the unfolding of the story but there could have been more of that throughout the book

An interesting and suspenseful book. Unfortunately I figured out the twist about halfway through, so the ending was a bit lackluster for me.
There was one giant plot hole that still really bothers me. Jake wrote a book about this woman's story. But when he finds out that Evan's sister had a daughter, it should have been obvious from that point on that the daughter was dead and the sister was still alive, claiming her life just like she did in the book that HE WROTE. But he spent a good portion of his investigation thinking that Rose Parker was still alive. Why wouldn't he immediately understand that she was dead and Dianna was the one who was taking her place? Why didn't he think to look up a picture of Dianna in the high school archives in addition to Rose?
I figured out that Anna was the sister after the visit to the house where the barfly talked about what a bitch the sister was. Maybe the author just used a little too much foreshadowing, but it was pretty obvious. I saw a lot of other hints along the way once I started reading with the mindset that his wife was not who she said she was. I wish it had been less... obvious? But maybe half the fun is trying to figure it out for yourself. I just figured it out too early.
Didn't expect the very end plot twist where she kills Jake and then takes HIS life, that was definitely surprising.
