I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

I loved the story overall. I loved the cynicism of her outer world look. It's understandable as to why, but I also enjoyed the realistic approach to this. It's realistic as to how she's have to shove everything down and now that her mother isn't there to coach her and keep her shoving it, it ends up manifesting itself into her addictions and eating disorder. This ultimately affects her outward look on life. I enjoyed the writing very much and was deeply enthralled by it! It's very good in its foreshadow and the gaslighting that comes with abusive mothers who attempt to live vicariously through their daughters. My one issue about this book is that I wished she talked more about overcoming the false foundation she lived on. Coming to terms that her mother isn't an angel but a horrible person who abused her.

I was riveted by this memoir about surviving narcissism in many forms but particularly about surviving her overbearing and abusive mother. It’s a must-read for people who enjoy memoirs.

This story makes you feel for the author. It was interesting to read about her upbringing and life as a child actor.
