Bold, refreshingly honest, and a great read for those struggling with complex attachments to someone whose loss their grieving.

Jennette is such an engaging writer! It hurt to read how much she was struggling but I'm so glad she was able to use this as a way to heal and move forward!

This book follows Jennette from childhood through to early adulthood and the influence her relationships, particularly that with her mother, and her career had on her development and her mental health.

Central to the book is Jennette’s experiences of childhood acting, OCD and eating disorders. Each of which are fuelled by her mother.

This is such an open and honest memoir and listening to it on audible, narrated by Jenette, certainly gave it greater depth. If you’re a fan of Jennett’s I imagine you would love this, but it can be enjoyed by anyone.

Listening to Jennette tell her story was powerful in such a heartbreaking way. Her vulnerability, and the way she portrayed her younger self felt so deeply human. Her story will stay with me for a long time

That was a great memoir. Jennette McCurdy is an excellent writer. I listened to the audiobook and so at times, I feel like the reading was a bit lacking, but she’s the author so I don’t really know if that critique is warranted.
Anyway, it’s much better than the last (and only other) memoir I read, which I DNFd because it was terrible. So this is a big step up! And it makes me want to read other memoirs, so I think I’ll do Viola Davis’s next.
