Girl, I'm glad your mom died too. What a brutal and honest account of growing up with an evil narcissist who not only forced a young woman's career but disorders and addictions with absolutely no second thoughts (and don't even get me started on grandma. Blood curdling). I'm a major fan of true crime books but this woman was pure damn evil in a whole new way. Thank you Jennette for sharing your story, your struggles with various addictions and your steps in recovery and coming to terms with your upbringing and realizing that the life you lived wasn't your own and was not okay.

This book was so tragically, but beautifully written. I listened to the Audiobook instead of reading the physical copy. I highly recommend that even if you have read it, it is worth listening to as well. Jennette’s storytelling paired with her own voice painted such a strong picture of her story. Her point of view of her upbringing was not what I had expected to read. I truly feel for this young woman, I hope she has found her peace.
