Great! I love Anne Rice. Though the theme was a bit more... well, religious, and sometimes had "too profound and loving" words about god, it's a great book. I enjoyed it a lot. And wow that cover, beautiful!

Reading this book felt odd. I have either read it before and completely forgot the first book/never read it OR there is another book out here that is extremely similar to this. I’m guessing I accidentally read this before and it was just as boring then as now so I forgot I read it.

Stuffy and rather disengaging. Problems are solved in so quick a manner that the book as a whole feels more like an episode of Supernatural - or any other monster of the week drama - than a novel. Moreover, the tone is tiresome. We sit through multiple conversations about sin, angels, and the nature of right and wrong, and though it’s important to show rather than tell, I do believe Rice’s book would have benefited from a bit more summary.

The tiresome tone is then compounded by the bizarre thoughts and speech patterns of the protagonists, who is allegedly a modern man in the US. He reads like an 18th century man of the church, and it’s completely jarring given his modern context.

It was okay. Here's my detailed review.

First time reader of Anne Rice but was expecting so much more!

2 mistakes I did was:
-Not reading in one sitting
- Starting with the second book in the series.

La verdad es que leí el libro sin tener conocimiento de que había un libro anterior pero al final creo que no me he perdido de mucho.

UGh, so hard to get through and not really worth it. Nothing like her older works.

A nicely done second installment to this new series. Although this are shorter books Ms Rice packed quite a bit into this one. Toby's adventure in Angel Time was much shorter and different than the last but the addition of characters in Toby's real life has added to dimension to this story line. In addition I am intrigued by the addition of the demon character and Toby's doubts. Even in the presence of angels we can doubt the existence of God. I love how the spiritual angst and questioning plays out in Rice's books. Toby asks his guardian angel (another new relationship) whether he has coffee with the demon in his spare time, reminiscent of Rice's theme in Memnoch The Devil. I am pleased to see this series going in such interesting directions and that her stories of angels aren't going to be saccharine or sappy.
