To be honest, I never quite finished this book. I wanted so much to enjoy it, but it was too rambling, too vague, too sentimental. The recipes and anecdotes are the most enjoyable aspects, and maybe one day I’ll try and read it all again. The movie wasn’t much better, although it was easier to enjoy the scenery. There was also a hot Polish guy who made no appearance in the book…
This book is so much more than the movie. Really the movie has very little to do with the book at all. This book isn't about a love affair with a man it is about a love affair with a sense of place and history. Gorgeously written with great recipes for summer and winter times.
Really good book which has made me want to buy a farmhouse in Italy, grow veg and cook delicious meals!! Which I guess, was kind of the point! :-)

Was a good summery read, very poetic prose and really transports you into the book. Some parts were kinda boring and i found myself getting disinterested at times, which is why it took me so long to continue picking it up and finishing it. The story itself was also a little privileged in nature. It was a great mindless read honestly, in a way where I could read and zone out at the same time. I do love the authors writing styles and it’s incredibly descriptive. This book felt like someone telling you a really long story about a project (which is essentially what is it)
Thought it was going to be more like the movie. Beautiful language, just wasn't in the mood for a book focused so much on setting.
Eh - not very impressed nor inspired. I thought it would be better than it was. really rambling and not much substance. I much prefer other works on italy than this trite one...
