A book for when you’re missing the summer, or for when the fruits are too expensive at the grocery store. To wholly savour UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN, you have to pick it from the shelf at the right time. And I certainly did.

Was hoping for more, especially after recently visiting Tuscany. If I wanted to hear about a middle aged woman that buys a dump of a house, I'd watch HGTV instead.

I read this in anticipation of my trip to Italy. I found the prose vivid and the sense of place (and especially of food) evocative. However, this also felt quite slow and a bit long for my liking - by around the 50% mark, I felt like I’d gotten what I was looking for
