um chapter 9 is just… something, i want to protect my sanity

Not for the squeamish

Jon Athan is what I would consider to be a master of horror in words. The gore and suspense alone was insane. I wouldn’t recommend it to those who are squeamish though.

Don’t wait….

After finishing The Groomer, naturally I had to pick up Into the Wolves’ Den and I was not disappointed. First off, like The Groomer, this book is GRUESOME. If you have a weak stomach, drop the book and back away slowly. I felt the story was paced perfectly. It kept me on the edge of my chair the entire time I was reading it. Although I wanted the main character to bust down the door already, it wasn’t because I was bored. I was racing through the chapters as though I could save those girls myself, all while I was engrossed in every detail and angle of the story. I gotta give the author props once again for bringing to light the reality of human trafficking and just the overall evil that we, at times, unknowingly share this life with. I’ll definitely continue to read his books. I would suggest reading this before reading The Groomer, but that’s just my opinion. Happy reading!

Jon Athan really doesn't shy away from making you feel uncomfortable.

This story does exactly that. There are so many disturbing moments and it was not an easy read to get through. And I think it goes without saying, if you're familiar with Jon Athan's books, that this was shocking.

Into The Wolves' Den

I have been waiting for this book, just like I do all of Jon Athan's books, since the first time I saw it advertised. But, I anticipated this one a little more than the others. The picture on the cover was haunting. I don't even remember reading the synopsis - I couldn't quote it now if you paid me.
I grabbed it as soon as it was available, but I put off reading it all day yesterday because I didn't want it to be over already. (Like trying to avoid eating the marshmallows in your Lucky Charms until the last few bites.)
I have a list of exactly 90 books (including this one) that I've read in the past 3 months waiting for reviews and blog posts, (I can't get on-line much these days), but I need to address the author's notes at the end.
Jon Athan said that this is his longest book to date, but it didn't feel like it. Just as I expected - once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. If the story ended where he originally planned, it would have been good, but this version is excellent, and very satisfying. Knowing what sparked the idea of this story, and how true it could be, makes it all the more horrifying.
