In this dual timeline novel, Sara is a Jewish matchmaker that starts very young with matching her older sister to her husband in 1910. From there she cultivates her craft even more.

In the 1994 timeline, Sara's granddaughter Abby is a divorce lawyer who definitely has her grandmother's heart (and possibly more?).

This story begs the question whether there is ONE match for each person or if you're looking for someone who matches at a specific threshold (like 95%, for instance). The novel doesn't delve into that issue. I find it odd that all these people find their match within a few blocks of their house.

Overall, this was a little too saccharine for me. There was a time that each of these two women that gave up an "okay" guy because another woman was a better match for him. I thought that was an interesting, selfless concept that I would have liked explored more in addition to the concept of one soulmate vs. many. I think I was just looking something different than this book was going to give me.

This beautifully written story reminded me to use my gifts and that soulmates really truly do exist.

The intergenerational narrative warmed every single piece of my whole entire heart.

I loved how the author used Jewish culture to weave together stories about love, marriage, and matchmaking.

I was delighted from beginning to end. Every chapter felt like a warm intergenerational hug.

Oh and there’s a pinch of magic too!

A little corny. Writing is not bad.  Just not worth my time

This book was fun, and I like the central idea that divorce and matchmaking are both related in the sense that you’re finding the right match. Both the character development and the world building/magical realism felt flat to me. So, it was a fun read, but I didn’t love it.

Probably my favorite book that I've read this year, it was so fun and the style of story telling fit the plot perfectly
