This was definitely a fantastic story anytime there's a story involving mafia, strong sexy men I'm here for it. This was by a new arthur for me and I'll be checking out her other book's. This is Bk1 to a new series and yeh the 1st couple of chapters were a lil slow it soon picked up the pace once the h got a view of the H lol.
Liliana is something else I love when the arthur writes a strong female character in a story, because let's face it we all want to strive to be like that or I do lol. This girl never had a damsel in distress moment that she wasn't trying to figure a way out of and the way she got out of those wrist ties...you go girl I need to remember that

Such a great book!!! Max and Lil have such a great story!

Liliana is such a strong female lead. She didn't back down to anyone and kept her head when she needed to. Max is an alpha male that finds himself becoming possessive over Lil. I really enjoyed watching their relationship grow and blossom.

Loved all the twists, turns, and angst in this one. I devoured this book and couldn't put it down! So good!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Soooo… let’s all point fingers at Amy. Because I was 100% sneaking off to read this book in full. I loveeee a good mafia romance and this hit it out of the park!! Between Max & Liliana everything was spot on. The characters themselves are intense and so easy to love. Falling in love with this book is so dangerously easy. Happy reading friends - you won’t be disappointed!

Ever since returning home from finishing college, the freedom Liliana felt has quickly disappeared before her eyes. She might be a Mafia princess but inside her father’s home she is nothing more than another pawn in his ever growing quest towards power. When a series of attacks on the family’s warehouses causes her father to bring in a hitman from Sicily, her only hope is that maybe he’ll be different from dozens of guards around the house she can’t trust. When all she wants is a possible ally, Liliana might be in for more than she expected because Max has come with his own agenda and none of the Mafia bosses will be safe.

Idk what it is but I keep wanting to like mafia fiction, especially mafia romances, but they always seem to fall a bit flat for me. I really enjoyed the beginning where Max is assigned as Liliana’s bodyguard and the tension that builds from there. Liliana’s perspective was probably my favorite but honestly I think it might have been because her two friends were the characters I enjoyed reading about the most. The incorporation of arranged marriage was a trope I haven’t read from before and honestly I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. I provided for a lot more variety in the story line and caused a number of fun twists. The steamy scenes were decent but kind of a let down for me. There was a point in the very beginning when Liliana held a knife to Max’s throat when they first met to make sure he knew she wasn’t helpless. When she did this, he made a comment about it being hot or kinking or something like that so it made me think cool, we have that kink going and I haven’t read that before so this could be really fun. Sadly, that wasn't the case though the first couple of scenes were pretty good. I don’t see myself reading further in this series. I appreciated that there weren’t any miscommunication tropes in this book which is pretty common in a lot of romance and the big conflict had to do with the drama surrounding Mafia politics rather than the couple which I really appreciated. Not sure if I’ll read anything from this author in the future but I wouldn’t say I’d say turn something down that piqued my interest.

So i love me some mafia romances and this was no exception. This is a really good start to the series. I really enjoyed reading it. Loved the characters. Really liked Liliana, she was better then i expected her to be. Really liked Max! Action, tension and angst perfect mix of it all.

I didn’t like the writing style also the people seemed so fictional and ideas were just dropped off here and there there is no thread through the story yeah not for me

I really enjoyed this book once I got past the first few chapters. I was having a hard time concentrating on the story.
I loved that Liliana and her friends were strong women. Who knew how to handle weapons and weren't afraid to use them.

Max aka Matteo has one goal in mind. Protect his mentor's granddaughter Liliana at all cost. So he poses as an assassin in her father's outfit, assigned as her new bodyguard.

Liliana knows all she is a pawn in her father's pursuit for power. She'll never be free because her only way out from under his rule is marriage. And it'll be to someone he chooses.

After learning that her father has signed a marriage contract for her to a man she loathes, she gathers herself and hides before attempting to make her escape. When Max shows up, she's sure he'll stop her but he's actually there to help her.

I should have loved this and yet it just didn’t hit the mark. My criticism is mainly that it felt like it was written a little bit from arms length. I can’t put my finger on it but I just didn’t feel like I WAS the characters when I read it. It felt a tad standoffish and like I was being told instead of shown - this 100% could’ve just been me reading in a finicky mood but I had to include it.
