This is the third or fourth novel I've read from the author, and I've come to expect an entertaining, well-plotted story. This didn't disappoint. Several distinct story lines intertwined through the tale, and while I don't think they were all resolved successfully, there was enough resolution for me to be satisfied. Solid, if unspectacular offering, with pretty fleshed-out characters who were realistic.
Recommended.
I received complimentary copy of the novel from the publisher and NetGalley, and my review is being given freely.

This was my second read by this author. The story is told in third person and follows the search for a young boy who goes missing from New York City’s Central Park while flying his toy plane and accompanied by his teenage sister who took her eyes off him for just a moment while on her phone. I found it to be a fast paced and entertaining read with plenty of family secrets and domestic drama as well as professional conundrums.
The detectives on the case quickly split up duties searching, investigating and following leads. There’s a lot to process here and a lot of potential suspects. The mother is a television journalist that has been the target of threats in the past from extremist conspiracy groups not to mention a secret sexual harassment complaint in the offing at her news station. The father is consulting on the inspection of a building based on tenant complaints that is receiving pushback from the large corporation proprietor. The daughter is in trouble with both parents for seeing an older guy with possible connections to criminals.
Suffice it to say that there are a lot of suspects to choose from, some too obvious, others not so obvious and a few secretive situations that may or may not contribute to the dilemma. And as the answers appear to be coming in, the situation ramps up and things get a little exciting with last minute ransom demands, untimely flights and high speed chases. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Jennifer Jill Araya. I enjoyed it although at times I felt like I might have liked reading the book more. There were times when the melodrama felt a little too much.
Recommended to lovers of missing person thrillers.
