Read for my Fundamentals of Acting class. Such an incredible play! I cannot wait to delve into this more with the rest of my class, but the complexity of the characters was really incredible, and I loved the aspects of humanity that the play explored. Solid four star read.

This is a play I'm going to have to investigate more to fully understand, but I really enjoyed it and it's very well written. Everything ties together nicely, but I was still left wondering if things would work out. I'm actually doing a scene from this play for one of my acting classes, so I'm really excited to get to play around with it and see what I can discover.

It’s short which, for me, made it one of my faster reads.
Catherine, the main character, was clearly brilliant. it could be very easy to not like her or see her as Whiny but I loved her character so much.
Not only that, the dynamic between all three characters was interesting. I wasn’t a fan of Claire for most of the book, and Hal was a bit off an asshole at times but when they and Catherine were together it was super interesting to read.

I first read Proof in high school, and I loved it. I adore math, but I was also dealing with death and mental health problems within my family when I first read it. This play hits the nail on the head as far as the emotions and conflicts that can occur within these situations. The play hit close to home and every time I read it, see it, or direct it I find new discoveries.
[a:David Auburn|87028|David Auburn|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1193508900p2/87028.jpg] was a genius when it came to dealing with the humanity of this subject. Yes, Robert is a genius mathematician. Yes, his daughter Katherine has followed in his footsteps as far as being very intelligent. But they are still real people with real problems. And the play ends with a bit of a mystery.
Proof. Sometimes we have it, sometimes we don't. In life, it doesn't always matter. And the play just goes to show that.

A very straightforward concept carried by the strength of its character writing. Each of the principal characters are well rounded and their interactions with each other feel natural and well developed. Not a complex story, but one that is written very well.
