This one starts out like a mystery novel. But after the first few chapters it transforms itself into an exploration of language, how we communicate or tell stories and so on. Then like in "Reservoir 13", it becomes a story of the "routine". Detailed review to follow. 3.5 stars.

I’ve read most of McGregor’s books and generally like them, but this one fell flat for me. It started out strong, and I think there were options for where the story could have gone—an Antarctic survival story, making it more about the inquest and Robert learning to tell his version of events, etc.—but instead it just hinted at these things and told a mostly pretty boring story about recovering from a stroke. I don’t think a story like that necessarily had to be boring, but after the action packed first section it was a bummer.
