my second kazuo ishiguro book, and while it doesn't top never let me go, it's still a phenomenal read.
now, it took me a long while to finish this book, and that was on me being lazy; ishiguro's writing is anything but lazy, always pulling me into the story and making me feel some type of way that i can't explain
the book tackles themes of suicide and loss, and while there are small moments of bliss, you can't help but feel some sort of tension between the characters; almost creepy at times.
of course i won't spoil the ending, but it definitely takes a re-read of some key pages to realize what's happening/what ishiguro is doing.
while not too simple, i do think it's a good first read for most people; highly recommend.

I loved this mysterious, reflective book by Ishiguro. Master of sentence level writing, unreliable narrators, memory and our own history and reflections. I would literally read a menu he wrote - beautiful.
