I loved how Finn worshipped her but really disliked that he called her Queen. Something about it just rubbed me the wrong way. But their relationship was exactly what she needed for that boost of confidence after her low point and Finn thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. They were sweet and sexy and encouraging of each other's goals.

So many things are wrong with this book imo and it bothers me sm so I have to make a list just to get this off my chest
I loved this book. The main love interests know how to communicate which is a huge plus. Loved their banter and the laughing out loud scenes! I’d even say that there’s a little of the found family trope too. Seeing the FMC adapt into a new social circle and be herself (well at least to the point where she tried being someone she’s not - I’ll come to that later on - that I didn’t like) was refreshing, since she’s been unknowingly miserable before. The MMC is easily a guy I’d like to copy paste into the real world - please? Can we do that?
However her ex and even more so her (ex) best friend (>>I don’t really believe this is a spoiler. that grown woman was a b*tch from the very beginning: whining, manipulative excuse of a friend, I’m sorry I just hate her. just thinking about her makes me feral<<) made me almost throw my kindle across the room a couple of times.
I’d even felt bad for her ex in the very beginning - JUST A LITTLE, it took me a couple of pages to go from “oh yeah, I mean if you put it like that, there’s nothing he can do about it” to “can we turn this into a dark romance and be done with him for good”. Yeah, exactly..
I’d have given this book 5 stars - easily - (they have an amazing pretend/kind of/fake relationship from the beginning. they communicate pretty well and they lift each other up. they help each other overcome each other’s insecurities. well the MMC excelled at that for sure) - BUT that one scene at the “gentlemen’s club” made me furious. Not because of what was happening but because of WHY it happened, or let’s say almost happened.
I understand the pov of the FMC to an extent. I’ve seen people complain and say she’s “overreacting, comparing every woman to herself and just looking for validation of men/the MMC” - I don’t have a problem with that. There was a lot of that in this book - I’ll give u that - but that’s what insecurities do to a person. On the contrary it’d be ridiculous to just make them “disappear” only because her new, hot neighbour wants her.
The thing that me me furious is that the MMC knows her well at that point (!), knows her insecurities, knows that all these things are new to her and HE DID think to himself something along the lines of “she’s doing this to experiment, she’s maybe doing it for me (he’s “adventurous”), she looks uncomfortable (!!!!), I’ve the feeling she’s not quite present (!!!)” like… bro then STOP.
I mean they did, but it took the FMC a while to recognise she wasn’t that type of girl and wouldn’t want to ever be. which is completely fine. don’t get me wrong, no one was forced into anything, the FMC started the whole thing (to please the MMC since she thought he needed it) but the MMC didn’t break the whole thing off at the first thought of her being uncomfortable and that’s what pissed me off.
He did just like a couple of minutes after, and I did have to take a break from the book.
Obviously they reconciled and talked about it. (even maybe a lil too fast). He FINALLY made clear that his adventurous past is not something he’s trying implement in their relationship and he’s happy with the way they are together, however the whole situation left a bitter aftertaste tbh.
Puh, that’s been a long rant - I’m sorry.
All to say I loved this book even tho at some points it made me go from 0-60 pretty fast, lol.
