Not as predictable as I first thought it would be. A little steamy, a little seductive and a little action (in more ways than one). I thought the structure of the book was a little weak but the overall read was good.

Opposites Attract

This was an only slightly steamy yet still very sexy, and romantic read. There's this vein of tension running throughout the whole story like a trail of gunpowder leading to a pile of dynamite, that just makes you want to keep reading just to see the explosion you know is coming. And it's quite the explosion. I really enjoyed this book and will most definitely be reading the sequel.

What kind of vampires are these? The plot line is really lame, and so is the ending. I'd give it a pass.

Take a hefty amount of cliches about vampires and an equal amount of witch lore. Stir thoroghly. Add a handful of devil and a sprinkle of werewolf. Mix and serve!

The result is not surprising or a literary master piece, but surprisingly entertaining. I actually laughed a bit.

Especially "Himself" was a source of entertainment. I want THAT story. What if the potion actually was for Himself? I know I'm probably twisted like that, but that is one character that will keep my mind occupied for a long time.

For what it's worth, I don't normally read this genre. I hate saying that because honestly, I feel like a good story should hold up regardless of what you read but I have to admit that with romance novels, I know that there are some conventions that I'm not exactly aware of. So with that in mind, if I've tripped over something that would be obvious to those people who do read these things normally, ignore what I have to say. With that out of the way, this book surprised me in a few ways. First of all, part of this book was hilarious and there were times that I had to actually check to see if I was really reading a romance novel. No spoilers for those who want to read it but some of the build up to the love scene was funnier than books I've read that were trying to be funny. That said, this was also part of the problem I had with this book. The tone meanders a lot and the characters go from deadly serious topics to lustful talking to introspective without much warning and it kinda feels a little rushed and stuck together. The build up to the first sex scene is probably my favorite part but after that it feels like the book just wanders off and decided to have snooze while the plot gets lost into things that felt arbitrary and out of place. Over all, not a terrible read but not entirely recommended either.

Ravin is a witch. Her sole purpose in life is the kill as many vampires as she can. Since witch's blood is poisonous to vampires, she has been rather successful. Her most recent hunt has eliminated several of the foul creatures, including their leader....or so she thinks. The vampire tribe leader, Nikolaus, was somehow able to survive and is now stronger than ever. Nikolaus is now out for revenge. He will stop at nothing to kill the witch that almost killed him.

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately in the long run, the Devil himself has his hands in the mix. He has set Ravin the task of mixing a love potion for him, only when Nikolaus breaks in while she is brewing, he finds himself strangely and suddenly in love with the woman he has sworn to kill.

I'm very glad that I had started reading Seducing the Vampire by the same author when I started this book. I just couldn't get into much at all. I think the whole love potion thing was just a little too over the top for me. If this one piece hadn't played such a huge role, and mentioned and argued about so much, I think I would have really enjoyed the story.

I don't want to cause any altercation or conflict as ratings on this book vary drastically
But I mean- I honestly liked this book.
I thought it was simple and cute and just over all enjoyable as it also delved into the deeper sides of a person's internal struggle.
While reading this, I would repeat everything that was happening to my younger sisters (ix nay on the steamy sex scenes) and we would just laugh and call everything ridiculous, because that's how I worded everything to her, but to be honest, after finishing the book, I let out a huge sigh and did find that I really really liked this novel and I thought it was deserving of a good rating.

Michele Hauf wrote a good plot in a fast paced book and as she expected points of it to be predictable- she still made it work. To me, of course yeah I found points here and there to be plainly obvious, like obviously Ravin's going to fall for him and obviously they're going to be that beacon of hope for a new age revolution of coexisting vampires and witches, but it still falls down to the writing that made this story's predictability fun and enjoyable and still grasping.
