This is the second or third book I've read I this series, and I'm a little surprised they're as popular as they are. I was bored. The secondary storyline was at least interesting. My main problem is that there's no reason to care about the story. I also don't find Kinsey particularly compelling as a lead character. I gave the series another chance primarily because the books are available in ebook format from the library, but that's not a good enough reason to continue when there's no payoff.

I really enjoyed this. The best of the series so far. Despite her saying that Bobby was dead in the first page, I was still upset when it actually happened.

Fast paced and my favorite so far. The abrupt endings still big me but I know that doesn't change so I've got to suck it up.

I like the characters, Kinsey is relatively progressive for an 80s, white, character but definitely does and says some things that prop up racist/classist systems.

Finally my her third book Grafton has delivered what I hoped she would in this series: a murder mystery that is interesting, that doesn't dwell on irrelevant detail and that fills out the central character of Kinsey Millhone. Even the side story of her landlord Henry was interesting and provided relief from the main mystery.

I've read many of this series - I've never been concerned with reading stuff in order :) - and all of the stories are an engaging read. Characters are well formed and interesting, settings are vividly described and Kinsey has a type of charm that brings me back for more.

My latest read in the alphabet series. I am used to Grafton's style now and know that as soon as things get exciting they abruptly end, but I enjoy the mysteries. I am trying to get past Kinsey's hatred of dogs (lol). I definitely want to keep going with the series.
