Doughnut? More like Do not (read).
I didn't care for any of the characters. They're all unlikable and the protagonist is an unlucky klutz who is the butt of every joke in the book. Also the jokes either fall flat or are beat like a dead horse.

I gave this one two stars because I read it on a holiday and probably stayed too long in the sun giving me permanent brain damage. Recommend it to everyone who is part of a book club and not really into reading good books but likes to see their fellow book club members suffer.

Not quite a four star...

I really want to love this stuff but I can't get into it the way I can with other comic fantasy - the long read time is a giveaway

Theo makes a tiny mathematical mistake and blows up a Very Very Large Hadron Collider and subsequently loses his job, his reputation, his wife, his home, his money. Homeless and working in a meat-packing plant shoveling guts, he inherits some unusual items from his mentor that send him on an unbelievable adventure. Full of British wit, this is one highly entertaining novel.

It wasn't good. I don't think I even chuckled, but I do think it was supposed to be funny. I suggest the "John Dies at the End" books, instead.

Silly fun. A bit too much nattering.

"Have you been listening to a word I've said?"

Theo nodded. "Several," he said, "but I skipped most of them because they didn't seem to be important."
