So far, this has been my least favourite of Anne's books. Still enjoyable but I think the it lost a bit of the usual magic as it was told mostly through letters to Gilbert. I missed Gilbert and the rest of the Avonlea crew!

This is the fourth book in the series. The series started off strong and each book got progressively worse. I could barely finish this, but I did not want to DNF because I did not want to do that to Lucy Maud Montgomery. There are no characters from the first books in this one and most of the book is just Anne writing letters to Gilbert. Boring!

The whole book is literally about Anne meddling in other folks’ businesses and sometimes I missed Anne in previous books. The charm of Anne is not really there and somehow I feel like this is written during the time she was not happy to move forward with the series. I sadly had to skim some chapters.
