4/27/2023 - I can't give enough love to this series. This latest outing in Paris was terrific. The author always brings so much history to her books; this was no exception. I learned more about Paris's history, and she continues to develop the characters and relationships of Armand Gamache.

It amazes me how I can read a book with violent crime as its focus and feel like I've been given a warm hug by the end. It's her gift that makes the reader feel as if they are part of Armand's family.

8/1/2023 - It was just as good, if not better, the second time. I had skipped book #15 before reading this one, #16, in April. I went back to this one to see what I had missed before.

Another great mystery with all the twists and turns you expect from Louise Penny. Set in Paris, and I missed Three Pines, but I enjoyed the fact that Gamache's family were very much to the fore  - especially that Reine-Marie had a more central role in the investigation than usual.
