Ernest Cunningham is back again with more murder, mystery, wit, and moments of breaking the fourth wall! Stevenson leans into the stellar setting aboard the Ghan, and self-awareness of the story’s similarities with Murder on the Orient Express. It had me simultaneously shocked and addicted.
Graphic: Murder and Confinement
Minor: Rape and Sexual assault

A very enjoyable sequel to the "Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone." Though there's plenty of action and murder, it's missing some of the charm and intrigue of its predecessor. Despite this, there was a great narrator, a great cast of complex characters, and the locked room mystery format continues to work for this series. I've been really into cozy mysteries lately, and Stevenson's books really hit the mark!
Graphic: Death, Gore, Murder, Alcohol, Confinement, Injury/Injury detail, and Blood
Moderate: Sexual assault, Sexism, and Rape

This book was very up and down for me - there was a lot of eyerolling early on but gradually got in the groove with it. I think as a writer there were things that annoyed me as it talked about several of the industry issues that rile me 🤣
It's all very meta and interesting, and it did what it said sequels should do for those who haven't read the first book - it made me want to read the first book. So. Well done.
