Story is mostly from one persons point of view who is arguably the most close minded of them all. however, you still emphasize with them a little because of their situation. it’s easy to put yourself in their shoes the way they describe it all. but it’s also easy to put yourself in the other narrators shoes as well from the other side. i think it was a sad and emotional story of challenging topics. i only wish the author was queer because at times it’s obvious that she is a straight woman writing about gay men and love.

This book made me cry, that ending just ripped ny heart to pieces. I couldn't help to feel sympathy for every character, even when they are deeply flawed and make very selfish decisions that affect everyone around. I could find the good and the humanity in all the characters, very heartbreaking. I cannot wait to watch the film.

this book was so much better than I was expecting. it's historical fiction which is something I don't usually lean into, but this surprised me so much that I might actually decide to read more historical fiction.

even tho the characters are very explicitly flawd, specially Marion and Tom (in my opinion), I still really enjoyed this.

I also absolutely love the way it's written. the writing is so beautiful.

this is set in Brighton, UK in the 50's and I loved the descriptions of this place. it made me really wanna visit it someday.

after reading this I'm even more excited to see the movie and to see Tom being played by Harry Styles.

Btw, since this is an LGBTQ+ story set in the 50's in the UK when it was illegal to be apart of the community, pls note that there is a lot of homophobia and other things that might trigger some people, so look up trigger warnings before reading.

I loved this book. I did not like Marion or Tom or Patrick.
But I hated -and will continue doing so- homophobia.

Do you know how many lives are ruined every year, because the majority of the people cannot withstand two adults liking each other?

Fuck homophobia. And fuck homophobes.
