Ya know.. it wasn't bad and I'm intrigued to read the next one.
The Lies We Tell is sort of a bully romance but I didn't really think it was. Yeah, they four didn't really like Winter when she walked into her life. Of course, they also had a crap ton of assumptions about her but they never really knew her. The reason I say this is because once they start getting to, they start chipping a way at themselves. It doesn't take long for them to start liking her and eventually developing feelings for her. Whether they are friendly, family, or lovers.
That being said, the romance was really good but I could've gone without the whole hot and cold throughout the book. Especially with the ending of this book.. so I'm not sure what is going to happen in the next one. Which is why I kind of want to dive into it just to see who did what and if they can get Winter back safely.
Other than that, I have so many freaking questions about these freaking parents. Especially her mom because she is so freaking frigid and robotic. Definitely don't like her and wouldn't mind if she randomly disappeared forever. Ya know? In the end, I'm down to read the next book.

Yo I’m so disappointed. Like that’s a hot ass cover for a trashy (not in a good way) book. This should not be labeled a dark romance. I’m laughing at this being ever considered “dark”, this was nothing! There was no bullying, no actual threat, no power, nothing. These men were boys playing at being scary. Literally two of them are puppies and the other two are just all growls and no bite so far (though Zayde could actually bite). Honestly, I was going to give it 2 stars because I didn’t mind it not being a dark bully romance even though that’s what I was feeling atm, it had potential, but it just got worse.
It all came down to the writing. The writing was super childish/underdeveloped, almost like an underclassman in high school writing this. Read chapter 1 (although the prologue will do too) and you’ll understand what I’m saying.
The romance was just lust, and a shitty one at that. There was no chemistry, no development, just badly written vanilla sex that all-of-a-sudden has the MCs catching feelings. But she caught feelings way before by just looking at him *eye roll* insta-love to the extreme. These characters seemed more like high schoolers and not 19/20 year olds (I mean considering how the writing way, duh). Some scenes got more ridiculous and childish that I wanted to laugh from its stupidity.
So freaking disappointed. I’m barely interested in the mystery and plot. I actually was skimming over the useless extraneous details just to get to how this ended. My fault thinking it would get better lol

Absolutely loved this book! After reading Trick me Twice I just knew I had to read more by Becca!
This book didn’t disappoint! And was everything I needed.
The FMC, Winter, is my hero! After the death of her out of the blue death, she comes face to face with a new school and stepbrothers and their buddies. Who are out to make her life crazy. Just one little thing she wants Caiden and he wants her. He just doesn’t know it (lies).
This book kept me intrigued from start to finish! Bought/Preordered the other books before I even was done reading book 1

This
Book.
The blurb hooked me...
But, once I actually read the story I was line and sinker...
Suspense, intrigue, lies...so many LIESSS. Secrets, betrayal. I actually turned off my notifications because I refused to be disturbed while I read this story. Becca Steele had my heart racing with the anticipation of what was coming next.
What is it about a guy who’s a total asshole to you that makes you want them more?? The Four was a force to be reckoned with and they all had that something about them that made them all undeniably addictive...but Caiden?? GEEZUS, I salivated for him (And Jenny if you’re reading this get your boxing gloves ready).
I need more of him like now, RIGHT NOW. That cliffhanger left me in shambles and I need the next installment of Caiden and Winter’s story like yesterday. I received a copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
