A lot of NA series follow the same structure in terms of characters, but this book completely defied those expectations. I think Winter was the most assertive female main character I’ve ever read about in a NA book, and I liked how Caiden and the other character weren’t nearly as toxic as I expected!
“You looked like you needed rescuing. I saw Cavendish following you.” He glanced at me, a small smile on his lips. “I like to think of myself as a knight in shining armour.” I laughed.
“Thanks, but I don’t need rescuing. I can handle Caiden.”
I didn’t love the writing in this book, it just wasn’t for me, but the plot completely made up for it. Finally, a book where the plot is more than a school rivalry! There’s an actual mystery to solve, and I can’t wait for more information to be revealed.
Okay, I won’t write a long review because I really want to start the next book because of the cliff-hanger ;)

3.2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ & 1.5 🌶️. I didn’t dislike this, but I didn’t love it. The plot just wasn’t engaging enough for me. I finished it because it was a fairly short read, but it wasn’t my favourite. It has tropes such as forbidden/taboo stepbrother romance, bully romance/uni romance. The boys were the typical rich boy elite assholes that you get in a lot of these types of stories. You have the friendly ones, and then the villainous ones. Of course Winter ends up with Caiden, one of the most vile of the bunch. He’s hot as sin of course, so we allow it hahah. The ending felt a little forced for me, like the plot was fizzling out and they just threw in that ending for a little boost of cliffhanger to make you want to read the next book. I dunno 🤷🏻♀️ just not sure I’ll continue with the series or not.

I hate leaving negative reviews…especially knowing all of the time and effort an author puts into their work. This book had potential,but it fell flat. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters, their conversations were juvenile, if I had to read the term “rolling my eyes” one more time, I was going to poke mine out. I skimmed the last 15% of the book and even though it ends on a cliffhanger, I will not be continuing the series.
Fans of bully romance do not want to miss this one!!

This book was okay. I really enjoyed the characters but the plot felt a little nonexistent. The pacing felt off and things were resolved way to easily throughout the book. I hope the next book explains more and does a better job at telling the story.
