I didn’t want this to end, such a cute series!

In Always and Forever, Lara Jean the gang are rapidly approaching the end of senior year, which means planning for college. And you know what college means: change.

If I thought Book 2 was an emotional rollercoaster, that was nothing compared to this book! I didn’t think a contemporary could ever have me on the edge of my seat, but I was stressed throughout the entire audiobook. The last half hour damn near killed me!

Warning: make sure you have cookies on hand for this one. And not just because Lara Jean’s always baking (which she is), but to cope with the sheer feels and emotional turmoil!

I was really nervous that this book would be subpar, partly due to the weight of expectation that accompanies a finale, and partly due to its suspicious release two years after the sequel. But I’m happy to report that this was everything I could’ve hoped for. It was stressful, cute, romantic, and full of baked goods and feelings!

It was interesting to see a new set of obstacles in this book. Genevieve and the hot tub video are long gone, and Peter and Lara Jean’s relationship is the main source of conflict here. It was cool to see them grow as characters, following them through their ups and downs and seeing them apologise and talk through their problems like an actual human relationship!

And I was also mega happy to see

! <3

Sure, Kitty and Margo were insufferably rude, but anything else that frustrated me was deliberately written to frustrate me. Lara Jean gets swept away by a few things that are written to be that way, so I can’t critique Jenny Han for making me rage at
SpoilerLara Jean losing her identity and tying it too much to Peter’s college plans, or Lara Jean not taking college seriously.
I was frustrated at times but not due to poor writing.

Overall: this was a sweet yet stressful finale to a wonderful series. I have so much love for this trilogy and how it centres an awkward, introverted biracial Korean-American girl and how she navigates love and high school. It could've easily been too sickly sweet or wildly unrealistic, but Lara Jean and her story feel like a love letter (no pun intended) to the introvert. I'm completely and utterly obsessed!

This finale was the very definition of an emotional rollercoaster, but I’d do it all again in a heartbeat. Now excuse me while I go find some cookies.

4.5. I seriously cry in every book I read, but I cried basically every time a character cried.

I definitely enjoyed this one more than the second book in this series. I still stand by thinking this book can entirely be focused on the Song sisters, I still loved what we got between them. One thing I appreciated about this book is how much Jenny Han included how much the daughters will always miss and remember their mother and that it's something that will never go away because it is something that rings true for so many people, you know? Basically the Song Covey clan is great, I actually would love another book about Kitty tbh.

To be loved is to be seen. Lara Jean does not deserve Peter.

I want to ... scream?
I am of the sole opinion that if you commit to a happy ending, it must be served sugar coated and with a fizzy soda on its side. This felt more like a plain potatoe. Don't get me wrong, I love potatoes. Just not the sweet ones.
