Wow! I am genuinely shocked by the ending of the book. I was so surprised at each turn. I am glad I read the physical book but I found myself going back to check what I read. But wow

in the beginning/middle it felt incredibly slow and boring, and the main characters are both kind of very annoying.
while for the whole first 70ish% of the book i felt no desire to keep reading it, the last 25% of the book really surprised me in a good way - i devoured it and couldnt put it down.
the only thing i didnt like about the ending is that there were a couple of loose ends that were not tied. in all fairness, a lot of times i read before bed and fall asleep while reading (which has caused me to miss key details in books before. so i might be wrong here lol my b)
3.25 stars ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
**spoilers ahead**
like why would Sengphet turn himself in? i speculated someone offered to give money to his family in exchange for a false confession, but that wasnt explained
also, what happened to Ariel and his wife? how did he know miss girl wasnt safe ?? was his ptsd just a coincidence ? also i absolutely hate when thrillers do that thing where theyre like “and i got a feeling in my gut telling me to be careful” and Ariel’s warning kinda felt like that.
the big surprise for me was when Greta was actually a predator - i did not see it coming AT ALL and that was so crazy of them!! we love queer representation & this book took be gay do crime to a whole new level.
i kinda want a sequel that shows neil killing and brooke being a little sus about it and investigating that.
okay thats my review :-)

One of the most poorly-written books I’ve ever read. I thought my eyes would get stuck from rolling them so hard. Trying to shove ten thousand twists into a story just for the sake of it does not make a good thriller.
Graphic: Drug abuse, Suicide, Violence, Murder
Moderate: Rape, Sexual violence
