Nothing groundbreaking and it had its flaws but for a debut, it was good.
Would have liked to have more dives but hey, its not about diving but the island and the resort - the title was a bit misleading.
The characters overall where believable in their own way and the small twist in the end was a nice cake-topping. I liked that a lot and that brought it to 4 stars.
Nice palate-cleanser.

There was a lot I didn’t like about this book. First, the reason that Brooke comes to the island and wants revenge on Cass is stupid. It’s terrible that she was raped, and it basically ruined her life, but why is she taking it out on someone who didn’t have anything to do with it. The fact that about five minutes after she completely ruins Cass’s life, she realizes that she jumped to conclusion and feels bad is just ridiculous. The entire murder plot at the end is kind of stupid. The fact that none of these people think that six people, most tourists, dying in mysterious ways in the span of a month on a remote island won’t raise any red flags for any embassies is stupid. Especially when two of them are sisters and a third is one of the sisters best friends. Someone would find that suspicious. What really killed the book for me was the epilogue. Just adding in that one of the survivors was secretly a serial killer at the very end and that he gets away with it is dumb. Probably would have been a 3 star if not for that added detail. Also the representation of Thai people isn't great. The author repeatedly represents the Thai police as corrupt and that they torture prisoners.
Nope, not feeling this one. I don't care about these shallow, boring characters, especially not for 370 pages??

There is a fictional party island call Koh Sang in Thailand. It is that place you go to get from all and start anew. This is what Cass has done. She moved to this island to forget her past. She fell in love with a fellow “permanent” named Logan and found a family with the other workers at the resort.
Instagram Influencer and Blogger Brooke arrives on the island. Just before Brooke arrived a woman accidentally fell to her death. After being on the island a few weeks and getting to know all the permanents another body of a tourist is found in the ocean when Cass is out with her scuba diving students.
Cass and Brooke start to investigate these two deaths. The two of them start to get cryptic messages warning them to about their investigation. They do not let these warnings distract them and when a few more deaths occur, they start to get scared. There are so many secrets that the permanent a keeping, it occurs to them that one of them could be the killer. Both Cass and Brooke have secret motives about looking into these killings. Will they turn on each other and will they find the killer before another person is killed?
This books starts out slow and a bit confusion with the introduction of so many characters. The book is written from each of Cass and Brooke’s perspectives which does take a little getting use to. I will tell you to hang in there because the story will get going. Once it does you will not want to put it down. The twist and turns just keeps coming as the story unfolds. I actually thought I had figured out who the killer was but I was way off. The ending of this book was a big surprise that I did not see coming.

Secrets and lies, secrets and lies. Running away from your past or trying your hide. Create a new life, starting over. Murder!! This book takes you to a beautiful Island and resort but once there you’re on an adventure and then a mystery hunt trying to figure out who the culprit is. A good story. I guessed one part and was correct but def didn’t have the rest of it figured out.
