Contains one of my least favorite thriller tropes and needed a good edit. I was about 160 pages in and couldn’t believe there were still 200 pages left.

I guess it’s a good vacation read, but not one I’ll recommend a lot.

A thriller has to be really great for me to love it and I just wasn’t a big fan of this one. The beginning was really slow and things picked up at about 65%. There are a lot of characters and there wasn’t anything specifically interesting about any of them which made the story a little hard to follow- “which one is Doug? Neil? Logan?”

As someone who traveled to Thailand years ago and attended a full moon party, some of the scenes felt nostalgic to me, but that’s really all I enjoyed.

I personally prefer thrillers where I have an idea of what’s going on (even when my idea is misguided and will end up with a twist in the end), rather than the whole story being an unknown. I felt like the whole first half of the book had chapters that ended with “but they don’t know about my past” or “I have been lying all along”. And the constant whodunit just got a little old.

Set in Koh Sang, this is a fabulous thriller that will keep you guessing. Full of suspense and twists, Sara encompasses everything you want in a great edge-of-your-seat ride! Nothing is as it seems in this vacation destination, and trying to outrun your past won't stop it from catching up with you in paradise. I loved every minute of this one, and it should definitely be on anyone's February TBR! Thanks so much to Sara Ochs, the publisher, & NetGalley for the opportunity to review this e-arc!

Book of the Month Club: February 2024
PopSugar 2024 reading challenge #17

Who wouldn't want to visit Thailand? It is absolutely a place on my bucket list and at the beginning of the story, it will be on yours as well. Resorts, gorgeous beaches, wonderful food, plenty of drinks, etc. But eventually paradise comes crashing down in this novel about secrets, not being able to trust your friends, and murder. That's right, someone gets murdered and that's what sparks off our journey.

This is one of those books where it was fun, it was decent, but it was a slow burn, and once I got to the 'twist' it was something you kind of see coming. I can't say I felt deeply about any of the characters. It was a fun beach read type thriller/mystery but not one that's going to stick with me forever. Decent, not great. Would definitely read more by the author though!
