Throwback

I'm working on a summer reading bingo card and one of the squares is "a book from your childhood." It was fun to reread this as an adult after it popped up on the Libby app. It's funny looking looking black how many "new kid" parallels to Margaret's school year I had years after I first read this.

Sebenernya udah baca buku ini beberapa bulan lalu tapi rupanya lupa ditambahin ke GR :))

Bukunya tipis banget, dibaca setengah hari juga kelar. Ceritanya bikin senyum-senyum sendiri nostalgia pas aku seumuran Margaret, kelas 6 SD. Beberapa pengalaman mirip-mirip lah sama dia: bikin geng-gengan sama temen-temen cewek, sok naksir cowok padahal sebenernya belum ngerti juga =)) daaan.... telpon-telponan pake telpon rumah!

A: "Halo?"
B: "Halo, bisa bicara dengan X?"
A: "Dari siapa ya?"
B: "Dari temennya" (semacem suka males nyebut nama)

I decided to reread this as an adult since I heard there is a movie out and I wanted to watch it. I still loved the story and themes that are still revelant today. I appreciate my childhood without social media! Without the internet! This book reminds me of all those things plus what it was like to be a 12 year old girl. I loved it as a tween and 30 plus years later as an adult.

Read again for my student bookclub. Loved it just as much this time as when I read it 30 years ago!
