I'm enjoying these books. They and quick and easy reads. Though I must admit I prefer the movies over the books. I do wish I had waited a couple more days before reading this, because while I had just finished the 2nd book, I really need a break in between them(I also wish I had read these many many years ago, I would have enjoyed them more). Mia has not changed much and is still obsessed over the same things as before, but I do find this journey of Princess Mia to be fun and exciting.
Hopefully I'll be able to continue on with the series soon.

This was a re-read for me, simply because I wanted an easy, light-hearted book at the time, and I had this one lying around in a pile of books I got from a library book sale. I loved The Princess Diaries books in middle school, and I love the movies to this day (can't wait for the 3rd one to come out!), but as a college graduate, it is way too fluffy for my liking. I didn't expect anything more than what I got out of it this time around, and it amazes me every time when I see how much my reading taste has changed over the years.

I think I'm a little addicted. While I'm reading a book, I'm already looking forward to reading the next the Princess Diaries book. I'm not entirely sure if that's a really good thing, but at least it's a good thing for this series. It says something. It says that even though it's some years older, it still triggers something and it still works. Maybe it's partly my nostalgia and my big love for the movies, but I'm very good at separating book from movie, normally.

The third book actually follows the exact same formula as the previous two books. We get to read Mia's dairy, where she writes down everything that's happening to her ever since she found out that she was a princess. And surprisingly enough, if you look very closely, it's actually not even that much and not even that spectacular. In a way, even when Mia is a princess, she's still very much a normal fourteen year old girl.

This third book actually focusses for the biggest part on Mia's love life. She's dating one guy, because she is too polite and nice to reject him, but she's secretly in love with another. And in a very typical way Mia explains why this is a disaster and very clearly the end of her life. And where I'm usually annoyed at this stuff, it somehow works in this series. I think because the diary structure helps us to really understand Mia and where she comes from.

It also helps that now, in the third book, we've gotten to know Mia a little bit and know how her brain works. She's introverted. She's not the kind of girl liking conflict. Which means that in a lot of cases she finds ways to avoid conflicts. Illegally or not. And since we read how Mia comes to her actions, it also has something endearing. It's also why I, as a reader, think she would make a great princess. Diplomatic, honest and kind.

I'm already looking forward to the next one!

Third in a series about a girl who finds out she's really a princess. It's cute, but it's just more of the same stuff as in the first two.

I needed some fluffy fun after the last book I read, and this provided that.
