I can't help but compare and judge this book against the first two in the series, Nolyn and Farilane, which I loved. I wasn't engaged with the characters like I was with the first two. Still a very fine book though.

You always make my heart ache, Michael. Loved it. Now we have 1,000 years give or take yet to cover, hint hint.

Such a fun story! Long but every part was worth reading. I was never bored or tempted to skim and always excited to turn the page. So many cool characters I will miss reading about. Plus the ending made me immediately want to re-read Theft of Swords!

I started reading the Riyria Revelations in 2014, followed by the Ryria Chronicles. Some time after that the Legends series, and now The Rise and Fall. All 19 books done! And how fun it was!

Esrahaddon really makes me feel like reading Riyria again, just to connect all of that (which I've largely forgotten) to all of the history I know now. So I guess I have my holiday reading sorted out ;-)

I can honestly say this is my favorite story from Sullivan. I love all of these characters so much. Something about the seamless transition from the point of view of a child, to that of a teenager, to being a young adult, to entering adulthood, as presented in this book, is truly amazing to read.
