Can't believe I'm saying this but I'd rather reread 720 pages of A Little Life than touch 120 pages of this misogynistic book again.
The main character Yozo reminds me of Jude from A Little Life due to his traumatic childhood experiences and Anthony from The Beautiful and Damned because of the privileged upbringing he had.
While Jude from A Little Life suffered worse than Yozo, it's interesting to see how a good support system from family and friends can help alleviate a lot of Jude's struggles.
In Yozo's case, his family seemed indifferent to him and he had no real friends growing up.
A tragic story tbh but I couldn't ignore the glaring misogyny and monotonous writing due to how most of the emotions in the book got lost in translation.
