To be honest this was awful and there is not mush else to say about it. I haven't heard of many to the acts let alone the songs and what a song might have meant for him means nothing to me. At one point he says he realised he could walk out from a concert - i might well have walked out of this book at several points in its monotone narration

Decent read if you're a music junky. Exposed to a lot of songs I wouldn't have heard otherwise, and that's made it worth the read. Hornby writes in a manor that sounds more like a conversation, which made for a quick read.

I am not quite the music snob as Mr. Hornby, and his music taste is while not completely unlike like my own, not quite in the same radar. Still, I just loved his passion about music and enjoyed this quite a bit. I was especially touched on his section about music and its connection to his autistic son.

I put off buying this one for a long time. It's by one of my favorite authors but looking at the 31 songs it is about, I don't know most of them. However, I finally bought it this weekend and was happy to realize I didn't need to know them to appreciate this book. He writes about music by the feelings they evoke, so it was pretty awesome. Definitely a necessary read for music lovers.

This book is great for anyone who loves music. It shows what a deep connection certain songs can have on you at different points in your life and how just a hearing a few bars can transport you back.

Un must
