Every time I read a short story, I am reminded why I hate short stories. With the plot on this one, this could have been shorter.

Adorable and wholesome
emotional lighthearted mysterious fast-paced

This book was definitely something and my rating is still going to change because I love the message behind it and the lengths that mothers go through to protect their children. The fact that it was told through the daughters POV makes a bigger impact because we see her emotions and the consequences of what her mom does to her but then we see her as a mother. We see that she kind of turns into her own mother but in a different way where it's not directly lying to her children but letting them know about the possibilities of them being witches. I think it was very interesting and I did enjoy the aspects of the mother and daughter relationship. I would definitely recommend this book, even if I gave it a 3 star, it wasn't my favorite book in the world.

Such a great read weaving the complexities of love, dependence, breaking free, coming to see things from a different perspective and so much more. Also - surprisingly uplifting.

A fine book, not really my cup of tea. Nothing actually happens. It’s just a little story about a mother and daughter.

Witchy
fast-paced

Quite a lot of emotion and childhood feelings to unpack in a very short space of time here. But it's quirky and fun. I'm not sure how evil the narrator's mother is, but I love how ambiguous it is whether she truly believes herself a witch. A neat little story.
