I really wanted to like this short story -- I truly did. Ultimately, it was trite, cliched, boring and nothing really happened. The narrator had a "breach" with her mother over ... what? Never tells us but she is nonetheless going to visit her in old age and so forth. Didn't feel the love in this one. Ending was a ridiculous tantrum - of course people go running at night. Now, clubbing or sex club - sure. Sorry, not even sure what era we ended in tbh.

Pass.

a deft narration of a complex mother-daughter relationship with a good dose of humor and sadness, all in 32 pages. Margaret Atwood is a phenomenal writer!

For a short story this was quite nice. Considering it was meant to be about witches, I'd have preferred a bit more witchness! But still a nice book which touches on family traditions and cultures
